Recently elected Supreme Court Justice Bob Thomas is being accused of playing politics and booting an appellate court judge off the bench by giving him a Hobson's choice - amid several moves being called unprecedented in the court's history.
Justice Michael Colwell, a 2nd District appellate court judge for the last seven years in Elgin, said Tuesday he was reassigned as a trial judge in Kane County because he refused Thomas' appointment of him to Thomas' former elected seat on the appellate court.
