Riordan for Mayor?

In his State of the Valley address at a Valley Industry and Commerce Association luncheon earlier this month, L.A. Mayor Richard Riordan implored San Fernando Valley businesses not to support secession from the city.

He called the split a "lousy idea" that would hurt both the city and the Valley.

He also said it would be hard to find the right people to run a Valley city government. Then came the kicker, said in jest: "But if you do, I've had some research done to see if term limits would apply to me if I ran for mayor of the new city," he said.
