KOBE (Special) ---- Finance and Economy Minister Jin Nyum yesterday called for more voting quotas for developing countries within the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in accordance with their strengthened economic power.

At a meeting of finance ministers from the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) member countries, held in Kobe, Japan on Saturday, Jin put made the proposal on behalf of Asia's developing countries as a means of strengthening the international financial system.

In the course of reshuffling the international financial system, he said, the positions of developing countries like Korea should be fully reflected.
