KANSAS CITY, Mo._In crisp black and white, a baby who has just emerged from his mother's womb keeps his eyes shut tight. His miniature fingers wrap lightly around the gloved fingers of a doctor at Truman Medical Center.
The doctor gazes down on his little charge, who minutes before could not breathe. The doctor had put a tube down his tiny throat to help him breathe.
Now the baby is breathing on his own. The emergency is over.
