The University of Colorado will receive a gift of more than $200 million from a California technology entrepreneur - the largest cash contribution ever to an American public university.
CU will announce the gift - to be distributed over five years - today. The sum dwarfs any gift ever given to a public or private university in Colorado.
It comes from Bill and Claudia Coleman of Los Altos, Calif. Bill Coleman is chairman and CEO of San Jose-based BEA Systems, one of the world's leading e-business software infrastructure companies, which boasts WebLogic as its centerpiece product.
