Jan. 17--Capital Region business leaders on Tuesday hailed the governor's proposed spending plan and its programs aimed at promoting economic growth, calling them strong steps that could sharpen the state's economic sword.
Included in Gov. George Pataki's plan is $1.8 billion in tax cuts for businesses and individuals, $1 billion for high-technology initiatives, $16.8 million for tourism promotion, and what the governor calls a "pro-business attitude."
In his 2001-02 budget message, the governor said those efforts are part of making the state's economic expansion a priority in the coming fiscal year.
