SAN FRANCISCO _ As a public discussion designed to frame the Presidio's future draws to a close, environmentalists and neighborhood groups are putting increasing pressure on the agency that runs the former military post to reject commercial development in favor of an earth-friendly urban park devoted to the world's most pressing problems.
The groups are among more than 200 individuals and organizations that have offered their ideas about how the Presidio should develop over the next decade.
The groups are urging the Presidio Trust to abandon proposals to make it a high-tech or tourist mecca and instead adopt a plan much like the National Park Service ...
