Excavation work on the playing field for the new $400 million Denver Broncos stadium had to be halted because of the recent snow. About 30 percent of the scraping had been done, said Charlie Thornton, project manager for Turner Construction Co.
The field is covered with a tarp until conditions improve. Thornton said the playing surface is being dug down two feet below the final grade, for installation of utilities. Afterward, a soil and the grass surface will be laid.
With only seven months to go to opening day, Thornton said the project is 73 percent complete. Thornton said the job ...
