After Gov. Jesse Ventura dubbed the State Capitol press corps "media jackals" and even included the appellation as a subtitle in his second book ("Do I stand Alone? Going to the Mat Against Political Pawns and Media Jackals"), Capitol reporters decided to wear the name with pride.
They contracted for black T-shirts and windbreakers with white cartoon jackal logos and the name, "Media Jackal." There was some thought of surprising the governor by donning the duds for a news conference, but as in almost every issue discussed by the disparate group, there was no consensus. Besides, the governor seldom has news conferences for Capitol reporters.
