It's December; another year has passed and we're awaiting the start, technically, of the millennium and century, feebly celebrated and feebly "bugged" a year ago. It must be time for the Advanced Imaging Buyers' Guide again!
In that year, long-time watchers of the electronic imaging industry have seen veteran firms undergoing inevitable consolidation, once-obscure technologies taken mainstream--sometimes even to a consumer level--and hardcore imaging and vision R&D continuing to astound us with new capabilities for industry, science, defense, law enforcement, business, education, media, and more.
