Regina Brown's audience this night is a cluster of homeless men.
She is comfortably camped on a folding chair, chatting with a dozen or so of the men as they await dinner at Fairhaven Shelter in Covington.
A ruddy, grey-haired man in his early 60s taps her on the shoulder to share the news of his good fortune.
He is going to the mountains, the man tells her. His brother down in Breathitt County has invited him.
''Oh, Blackie, I'm so happy for you,'' Ms. Brown said. ''I'm so glad you won't spend this winter on the street.''
