Modem processor implements networking protocol for error-free communication If you're including a 2400-bps modem in a design, consider implementing the Microcom Networking Protocol (MNP) along with the modem. The MNP provides full-duplex, error-free communication over phone lines. the SC11013/SC11006 chip set implements the MNP for you. By using the chip set, in effect, you'll be able to build a modem that implements the MNP for less than $11 over the cost of producing a standard 2400-bps modem.
