How long do dental implants last? What are the risks? Which type of implant is the best? Unfortunately, there are not too many answers to guide people considering dental implants as an alternative to partial or fixed dentures. That sums up a recent Consensus Development Conference on the topic sponsored by the National Institute of Health in conjunction with the National Institute of Dental Research and the FDA. The purpose of the three-day consensus conference was to bring together experts on dental implantology to resolve existing controversies and to identify gaps in knowledge.
