Jan. 30--Some of the nation's top lawyers will be back in federal court in Indianapolis today to wrangle over one of the biggest product-liability cases in recent history.
At issue are more than 200 suits against Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. and Ford Motor Co., inspired by a spate of accidents, injuries and deaths blamed on defective tires.
"This litigation raises one of the most important public-safety issues of the last 10 years," said Irwin Levin, an Indianapolis lawyer who is involved in the case.
The action in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana will help determine how quickly those suits are resolved.
