Two-hundred-forty-eight university students completed an anonymous confidential questionnaire designed to assess their attitudes toward single motherhood. Almost eighty percent (79%) of the respondents agreed that "it is perfectly OK for a woman to decide to have and to raise a child without a husband" with significantly more women (85%) than men (73%) in agreement. Other significant findings included that women were more likely (56%) than men (40%) to agree that parents are interchangeable- that children can develop just as well with either a single mother or a single father.
