WHEN DESIGNER-ARCHITECT Alison Spear took up House Beautiful's challenge to create a guest bedroom in a ninety-minute, one-stop shopping spree, she knew just where to take editor Frouwkje Pagani: Jet's Florida Outdoors sporting goods store in Miami.
Spear chose canvas cots to serve as twin beds, with a couple of rows of hand-hewn maple hiking sticks for headboards. She settled on a pair of wooden canoe paddles for curtain rods with long drapes of white mosquito netting.
