On Object-Oriented Programming, Databases
Building on the foundation laid in the 1970s, especially at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center, object-oriented programming (OOP) and object-oriented databases (OODBs) are finding their way into more user applications.
The earliest appearance of object-oriented techniques was at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center in the 1970s. Engineers working there developed a new workstation, the Alto, which contained--for the first time--icons, overlapping windows, pull down menus and other concepts which eventually were to make the Macintosh so popular.
