HANOI, Jan 31 Asia Pulse - The hotel industry in Vietnam's biggest city has swung into recovery mode, as rising tourist numbers help erase the bad times that followed the Asian financial crisis in 1997.
Ho Chi Minh City hosted 1.1 million tourists and business visitors last year, a 12.8 per cent increase on 1999.
Last year, occupancy rates rose to 42 per cent from 1999's 40 per cent, even as the number of available rooms rose from 15,670 to 15,895.
Revenue rose by 6.6 per cent across the sector, after 1999 saw hotel owners slash room rates to stimulate more business.
