Last spring the Port of Bellingham and the Whatcom County Public Utility District #I commissioned a just released report: Evaluation for Industry Recruitment in Whatcom County and Cherry Point.
As I hear discussion about the report I am disappointed that there is any surprise about its conclusions.
The report simply reinforced what many have been pointing to for years.
So why the consternation?
To me the report is a hopeful one. Whatcom County's economic engine is sputtering and the report is fairly blunt about some of the reasons why.
