While America digs out of its snow banks and scrapes ice from the streets while counting up winter storm catastrophe losses, insurers through Europe and the United Kingdom are deep into their own analyses of mounting flood losses.
A report by Guy Carpenter in London, a subsidiary of New York-based Marsh, gives a detailed account of recent flooding throughout the United Kingdom. The report, said Dickie Whitaker, Guy Carpenter vice president for Instrat U.K., is one of few efforts at reporting on a growing concern where little data is available.
