Transport Minister Keith Hill today confirmed that 44 tonne lorries will be allowed to operate on Britain's roads from 1 February, which will reduce the number of lorry journeys made on our roads.
His announcement follows last year's report by the Commission for Integrated Transport (CfIT) which recommended the introduction of 44 tonne, six axle lorries, citing clear environmental benefits. Their introduction could lead to an annual saving of up to 100 million lorry kilometres, equivalent to 1,000 fewer lorries ...
