ROME -- Valentino capped off the Rome couture shows with an unassailable spring collection, and not a little controversy. This was Valentino doing what he does best, in control, with just-so proportions and an even hand for detail.
But it was Valentino chairman Giancarlo Giammetti who made the headlines Thursday morning. In a press conference the day before, he had officially announced the firm's decision to show in Paris next week.
