Kip Kopelke, the honorary athlete for the 2001 Badger State Winter Games, hasdisplayed a determination and passion for ski jumping which has transcended manylevels. No matter the sport, that determination and passion can be understood byall athletes.
He will light the torch at the opening ceremonies of the 13th annual Winter Games, set for Friday through Sunday in Wausau and at various other sites.
When Kopelke was just 3 years old, his father built a ski jump in the family's back yard in Wilmot for his son to learn his jumping skills.
