Camella ehlke was always a downtown girl who loved listening to music and making her own clothes.
She still is. But now her passion for stylish hip-hop gear has developed into a $38 million clothing and accessories brand.
The name of her label, Triple 5 Soul, was inspired by the party phone lines advertised on the Lower East Side when Ms. Ehlke set up her storefront space on Ludlow Street 12 years ago. She established a party of her own, playing host to artists and hip-hop musicians and making clothes on her sewing machine.
