Feb. 5--IRA WITHDRAWALS GET LESS COMPLEX: At a time when many folks curse the IRS and its complex forms and rules, the tax agency has done something to simplify your life.
It's streamlined its rules on taking money out of individual retirement accounts and other tax-deferred retirement savings plans.
The proposed changes allow those savings accounts to last longer and may help you cut the taxes you pay when you start to withdraw the money.
"There's no question that this has been an unnecessarily complicated area of tax law," says William J. Goldberg, head of personal financial planning for KPMG in Houston. "But now it's a lot easier."
