Feb. 3--ATLANTA--Tommy and Cherry Settle are still amazed at how a brown leather datebook got them in such a finger-lickin' mess.
For decades, the 1964 datebook sat undisturbed in a box in the basement of the white-brick mansion in Shelbyville, Ky., once owned by Kentucky Fried Chicken founder Col. Harland Sanders and his wife, Claudia.
Until recently it was locked in a courthouse safe while a cast of characters argued about whether it's the secret recipe for the world's most famous fried chicken, a list of seasonings for stuffing or a discarded recipe.
