Organizers of Madison's St. Patrick's Day Parade say the parade is in trouble. A major volunteer shortage is threatening the 1 p.m. March 17 parade and the future of the event is in jeopardy.

In the past, it has taken more than 30 volunteers to work on fundraising, event organization, logistics and other parade operations. This year, due to scheduling conflicts, the number of volunteers has dwindled. The founder of the parade, an UW-Madison student, also is graduating and will no longer be able to serve on the parade committee.

To top it off, this parade is a charitable event having paired with the UW Children's Hospital in the past. To volunteer to help ...
