We do not exactly know what "transgenic" vines are, but we do know Slow Food in Italy is agin 'em.
One might suppose said vines have been developed to be immune from such vine maladies as powdery mildew or downy mildew or both, or, perhaps, fanleaf virus or phomopsis cane.
We can only suppose because the e-mail address for Slow Food, info@slowfood.it, didn't work.
Wines & Vines intended to ask Slow Food if the organization had any proof that "transgenic" vines produces fruit/wine that is hazardous to human health.
We doubt there is any proof, but we do know that Slow Food says "no to genetically modified vines and wines".
