Feb. 10--LINCOLN, Neb.--A nationwide movement to guarantee profits for dairy farmers has reached Nebraska.
If successful, a regional concept for fixing raw milk prices could keep more families on the farm while raising the price that other families pay for milk in the grocery store.
"No doubt about it," said Rex DeFrain, a Fairbury, Neb., dairyman, "dairy farmers need a shot in the arm."
The Nebraska proposal comes in the form of Legislative Bill 523, which would put the state in the Southern Dairy Compact, which is being organized. The Legislature's ...
