Wins in the Mountain West Conference don't come easily for Air Force. So with a chance to seal a victory over New Mexico on Saturday night, Lamoni Yazzie was the man handed the basketball.
Yazzie drilled two free throws with 10.3 seconds remaining to cap a 53-49 win over New Mexico before 2,534 at Clune Arena.
"They felt good. They were going in," Yazzie said of the free throws that stopped a New Mexico rally in the final minutes.
Yazzie was given the ball on an inbounds play as New Mexico needed to foul with 11.6 seconds on the clock. His team-best 86.4 percentage on free throws coming into the game was boosted by going 3-for-3 Saturday.
