THERE is something very sadistic about people who foist Old Wives' type cures on you when you are at your most vulnerable.
A friend of mine is a great believer in the unproven recipes of time long past.
She once insisted that her heavily pregnant sister drank a bottle of liquid paraffin to bring on her labour.
