Feb. 11--Sagging demand for personal computers and a stalled economy have the world's largest semiconductor manufacturers shaking in their clean-room boots.
Several companies that make chips recently reduced their sales projections for the year and others across the country have missed earnings and revenue estimates -- clear signs that the phenomenal growth the chip industry experienced in recent years is slowing.
