Earlier this year, over a brief 10-week period, GE's power systems group inked multi-billion-dollar contracts with Duke Energy, Panda Energy and FPL Group.
Because demand for new generation is so high, independent power producers (IPPs) are scrambling to get their hands on advanced gas turbines, the main component of a gas-fired power plant.
But questions are beginning to be raised about whether such red-hot demand for gas-fired turbines can be sustained, and for how long. A few voices are being heard hinting about a potential glut of turbines on the market.
