TRACK LEGEND Lydia de Vega-Mercado and her family will be grieving - not celebrating - on this Valentine's Day.
Tragedy struck the family of Asia's former sprint queen yesterday when a road accident claimed the life of her eldest son, four-year old John Michael.
Based on Lydia's account, John Michael had come from a neighbor's house just across the street and was on his way home when he was hit by a speeding passenger jeepney around 8:30 in the morning.
"Mabilis ang mga pangyayari," said Lydia, who was at home when she learned the jolting news.
