More than a decade of specialty cheesemaking in the Watertown area will end in late April when Bresse Bleu shifts its production to a plant near Marshfield.
Bresse Bleu told its 51 employees last month that the Watertown plant will close April 27, said plant manager Kurt Premo. He said all the production and some of the equipment will be moved to the Edelweiss Cheese Co. near Marshfield, which was recently bought by French-based Bongrain Cheese USA, the parent company of Bresse Bleu.
A few managers at the plant have been offered jobs at other facilities, Premo said. The company has offered a bonus package for employees who continue to work at the plant ...
