The Milwaukee Brewers will open spring training this week in Maryvale, Ariz., without any big-money reinforcements for a starting rotation that ranked 12th in the National League with a 48-65 record and a 5.05 ERA last season.
But pitching coach Bob Apodaca isn't worried.
"It is a different camp this year," he told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "I know people say that constantly, but we're dealing with a lot more pitchers who have had success."
The Brewers are likely to keep 11 pitchers this season, and the competition for the final two spots in the five-man starting rotation figures to be one of the more intriguing battles of the spring. Milwaukee's pitchers ...
