Cartier Int'l in Talks To Buy Valentino Garavani MILAN -- Cartier International and Valentino Garavani S.p.A. are involved in preliminary negotiations, that could lead to Cartier's acquiring the Rome couture house, Giancarlo Giammetti, Valentino chairman, said Monday.
"We are currently talking with Cartier about a number of possibilities and that is one of the proposals under discussion," said Giammetti, when asked about reports that Cartier was attempting to buy the designer firm.
"We have not signed any agreement," he said; however, "and announcement of any kind of deal would be completely premature."
