While St. Paul City Council Member Jerry Blakey officially announced his bid for mayor Tuesday afternoon, City Council President Dan Bostrom bowed out after learning his wife must undergo treatment for breast cancer.
Rosie Bostrom's cancer was diagnosed Monday, 13 days after her husband formally entered the mayor's race.
"Rosie requires very aggressive treatment and I must support her as she battles this disease," Bostrom said. "I intend to continue my duties as president of the City Council and direct my energy to my wife of 40 years."
