Seattle's downtown businesses strongly support improvements in public transit. Traffic congestion is an increasing problem for our customers, employees and suppliers. Without question, a large part of the solution to this problem is getting as many people as possible out of automobiles and into some form of public transportation.
Yet despite our continued support for transit, the Downtown Seattle Association informed Sound Transit last week that we no longer supported their current plans for light rail. At the same time, we expressed our hope that the agency will make choices over the next several months that will result in a credible program that we can support.
