MIAMI -- Although the Panamerican Leather Fair, held here Jan. 21-23, drew more visitors and a better mix of international buyers than it did last year, one of the industry's top leather producers boycotted the show, and some exhibitors seemed pessimistic about the future of the event.
According to organizers, the show attracted 6,000 visitors, up slightly from last year, and featured 532 vendors and 16 national pavilions. Show Manager Michael Kazakoff noted that the Spanish Association of Finished Products, the Aegean Leather Product Union from Turkey and delegations from Nepal and Bangladesh exhibited for the first time.
