Hold the Eggs, Shellfish and Nuts
No one knows why children develop allergies, though many theories abound. Inheritance seems to play a role -- infants with either both parents or one parent and a sibling with allergies are at "high risk" of developing allergies themselves. Absorption of complex food proteins into the bloodstream may also increase the chances of allergies developing.
