WHAT do you think of when someone mentions living in the future? The wet-dark streets and neon of Blade Runner? The whirling space stations and Hal of 2001: A Space Odyssey?
For me, it's that cartoon series from the Seventies, the Jetsons - a husband and wife, two kids, a dog and, most importantly, a robotic housekeeper.
The future, according to the Jetsons, truly arrived when people no longer had to spend time shopping at Sainsbury, doing the ironing, or cooking Sunday dinner. I can relate to that.
