South Africa Monumental row
IT BEGAN as a bit of a lark. Accompanied by Ms Jani Allan, a female journalist, and by nobody else, Mr Eugene Terre Blanche, leader of the ultra-racist Afrikaner Resistance Movement (AWB), drove to Afrikanerdom's revered Paardekraal Monument in the town of Krugersdorp on the night of December 27th. The gate was locked, so Mr Terre Blanche rammed it with his car. Somebody called the police.
