November 1992: Madison voters approve the Monona Terrace Convention Center.
July 1995: Mayor Paul Soglin appoints an 11-member task force to recommend a site for a Monona Terrace hotel.
September 1995: The task force looks at three possible sites -- parking lots south of M&I Bank, Anchor Bank and Parker Jewelers; parking lots east of the Madison Municipal Building; and the Madison Club and Madison Catholic Diocese Chancery on East Wilson Street.
September 1995: The task force selects the site of the Madison Catholic Diocese Chancery and the Madison Club's parking lot.
