I AM honored to be here to join you in recognizing this year's Dona Aurora AragonQuezon Peace Awardee. I join you in paying homage to them and in making our own commitment to peace.
I am grateful to reconcile In the Philippines not only for co-organizing this award, not only for your work with EDSA 1 and 2, but also because on a personal basis as Evelyn said, my early days as an activist were spent as a member of the Concerned Women of the Philippines.
It is fitting that today's award ceremonies are being held on 113th Death Anniversary of the late Dona Aurora Aragon-Quezon. For this award are most of all about life. The best defense of which is peace.
