`No-Sweat': The latest way to join copper tubing
AT THE SHOW - Grooved-end piping has been used reliably since 1925 for IPS steel and similar materials in hvac, fire protection, and related applications. Now this method of joining pipe is being made available to mechanical contractors for nominal 2.5-in. through 6-on. copper tubing sizes.
A groove is cold rolled into the tubing to receive a bolted coupling that incorporates a synthetic rubber gasket which, in turn, seals the connection on the outside diameter of the tube.
