The Kern County Agriculture Commissioner's Office reported approximately 110,000 acres of bearing and non-bearing wine, table and raisin grapes in 2000, up from approximately 85,000 acres in 1999. Thompson Seedless, Flame Seedless and Red Globe varieties dominate table grape acreage; however, Crimson Seedless, a red, late-season table grape variety and Melissa, a mid-to-late season white seedless table grape variety, appear to be gaining popularity.
