SECRETARY OF STATE COLIN Powell apparently is planning to scrap many of the economic sanctions the United States has imposed on other nations over the years.
And that's a good thing.
During his confirmation hearings before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Powell said the use of trade embargoes and other forms of sanctions "shows a degree of American hubris and arrogance that may not, at the end of the day, serve our interests all that well."
We couldn't have said it better.
