Feb. 17--Though the coffee craze has been sweeping the country for years, residents of Lauderdale Lakes have had to drive up to 30 minutes for a latte or a double espresso.
Not anymore.
Starbucks on Friday celebrated the opening in Lauderdale Lakes of the first Florida location co-owned with basketball legend Earvin "Magic" Johnson. The Seattle coffee chain and Johnson have teamed up to open stores in predominantly black and minority communities, areas where many retailers are reluctant to expand.
