You could call Lori Paulsen and Peggy Austin ice sculpture groupies.
The two women, from Downers Grove and Elmhurst, respectively, travel across the suburbs to attend ice sculpture competitions. As a result, they know a bit more about ice carving than your average spectator.
Their most recent stop was at the Oakbrook Terrace Park District's fourth annual ice carving festival Sunday.
"It's fascinating to watch, because you never know what they're going to do," said Paulsen, as she waited inside the warm park district building for the judges to make their decision.
